FM Oakland

Welcome to FM Oakland!

For October and November we are honored to feature the work of local Bay Area legends Tony Natsoulas and Jeff Nebeker.

Nebeker and Natsoulas first met in 1979 as undergraduates at the University of California, Davis, where they studied ceramic sculpture under Robert Arneson.

Jeff, a baker and chef, brought his passion for cake decorating into his clay work, blending culinary artistry with ceramics in playful and inventive ways. Tony, deeply impressed by Jeff’s talent, credits him with inspiring and teaching him — both in art and in life.

Tony developed large-scale figurative sculptures exploring the human condition. While tackling serious themes, he infused his work with humor and wit, aligning with the spirit of Jeff, Arneson, and the Funk/Nut Art movement of the time.

Working side by side for years, Jeff and Tony continually inspired one another, supporting each other’s projects and personal journeys. Their bond has endured, and they have remained inseparable best friends ever since.
