The first thing a clairvoyant friend said to me when she gave me a reading was:
“I see darkness”
Magic, superstition, myth and the shadow arts serve as guides to my exploration: What is the unseen? Who or what am I? What was here before me? What is death? My work examines the unknown, the things sensed and not yet recognized, buried in the depths of my psyche. Through ritual practices involving candles, sage, inherited bones, crystals, and altars I seek to be immersed in a realm where apparitions come alive. The portraits, figures and landscapes that I draw and paint with graphite come from fleeting moments where the veil of what is real and what is created by my subconscious thins - when I see ghosts, sense spirits, and feel things die.
