“Mark Duffy is a self-taught painter and photographer. He is motivated by artistic process and the freedom experienced from a consistent studio practice rooted in playfulness, authenticity, and experimentation. His intention is to communicate directly through visual imagery, evoking emotions that are universal. Ultimately, he is interested in learning about the creative process through practice, as a way to demystify preconceived notions about how art should be. Walking, making photographs of everyday life, and surfing are also important parts of his creative life.
He has participated in group shows at Book and Job and Fleet Wood galleries in San Francisco, as well as the artist run gallery Showhouse Jay Jay in Berlin. In collaboration with the independent publisher illetante collective, his photography was included in the exhibition Printed Public: Contemporary Art and Design Publishing in the Bay Area. The exhibition was on view at the SFMOMA Library from 2019 to 2020“
