SCUBA’s first solo show at FM Oakland Gallery in December comes at a pivotal time in the young careers of this artist collaboration. After 2 plus years of working together SCUBA continues to develop a style and approach to art making taking them from San Francisco to Santa Fe, NM, Berlin, Paris and elsewhere.

SCUBA’s latest body of work is based on their emergence against the constraints and difficulties facing many artists, and inspired by a new outlook on their collaborative process. By exploring a new mind set, in lieu of past experience, SCUBA is literally going up with less.

Drawing influence from artists such as Paul Klee, Wassily Kandinsky, Joan Miro, and process artists like Fernando Botero, as well as from the Sante Fe landscape, Russian Industrial Design, Japanese and Islamic patterns and architecture, SCUBA is creating a unique style, which draws in participation from viewers of all ages.
